Dayton's Eugene Frazier and Columbus Rob Gartner attend and represent the Sheet Metal Workers LU#24 today at the SkillsUSA Ohio stakeholders meeting. The Championships is scheduled for Tuesday, April 24, 2018, with the Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, April 25, 2018.
January Trustee Meeting, we are listening to Building Trades Dorsey Hager explain a Building Trades program to recruit new students called "Building Futures". Looking forward to working with this new program to find good candidates!
Sheet Metal Apprentice don't do electrical work, but the HVAC class gets to learn some of the basics tonight. This will help them in a service environment and make them safer when working around our brother and sister electricians. Fun night, thanks to our instructor Glenn Sager for bringing in interesting projects to keep apprentices engaged.

OVCG meets today to discuss Statewide outreach and how we can continue are efforts at Skills USA Ohio State contest. We are planning the Sheet Metal and Welding Sculpture Contest again in 2018!
The Ohio Valley Coordinators Group OVCG is Sheet Metal Workers LU#24 and LU#33 Coordinators from 7 different Sheet Metal Apprenticeships working together to further public knowledge about Sheet Metal Apprenticeships in Ohio!

Sponsored by the 14th Street Community Center and the Tri-State Building and Construction Trades Council
Columbus Building Trades, SMCCO, MCACO, Columbus City Schools and Mayor Andrew Ginther's office plan and organize a job fair to get the message out about apprenticeship opportunities in the Columbus area and recruit a diverse workforce. All the skilled trades showed up and most had hands on demonstrations. 100's of people came out and had a chance to try out a trade specific activity.
